How do UK wedding planners get found on Google?
The same way US planners do, with two UK-specific twists. The basics are a fast website that says what you do and where, a Google Business Profile, and pages that answer what couples search. The twists: UK couples and AI assistants lean on different directories (Hitched rather than The Knot), and UK planners usually sell by region or county, so your pages need to name the places couples actually search.
We checked 30 UK wedding planner websites and 16 AI answers about UK planners in October 2026. UK homepages were tidier than US ones on the basics, such as meta descriptions, structured data and headings, but slower: the median took 10.7 seconds to show its main image on a phone, and 12 of 21 took more than 10 seconds.
What did we test?
Two things. First, the 30 UK sites in our audit of 100 US and UK wedding planner websites, checked on October 9, 2026. 21 of the 30 were live and checkable; the other 9 couldn't be reached by Google's test or showed a placeholder or default page. Second, the UK half of our AI recommendation test: ChatGPT and Gemini, signed out, asked for wedding planners in London, Edinburgh, Bath and Bristol on October 15, 2026.
How do UK planner websites compare with US ones?

On every on-page basic we checked, the UK sites did as well or better:
- Meta description (the summary Google sometimes shows under your link): 19 of 21 UK homepages, against 40 of 53 in the US.
- Structured data (code that describes your business to search engines): 18 of 21 UK, 38 of 53 US.
- Exactly one H1, the main heading tag: 13 of 21 UK, 17 of 53 US.
- A blog link on the homepage: 15 of 21 UK, 28 of 53 US.
Where both markets were weak was the path to booking. Only 9 of 21 UK homepages had an inquiry form on the page and 5 of 21 linked to a pricing page, close to US levels. Only 2 of 21 UK homepages linked to a Google Maps listing.
Are UK wedding planner websites fast?
No. We measured Largest Contentful Paint, the time until the biggest thing on the screen, usually the hero photo, finishes loading on a phone. Google rates 2.5 seconds or less as good and over 4 seconds as poor (web.dev). None of the 21 UK homepages reached the good line, 19 were over 4 seconds and 12 were over 10. The UK median was 10.7 seconds, against 9.2 for US planners, and the median PageSpeed performance score was 52 out of 100. WordPress (7) and Squarespace (6) were the most common UK platforms.
Where do AI assistants find UK wedding planners?

Every one of the 16 UK answers named planners: 88 mentions of 56 different businesses. In 15 of the 16, the assistant linked at least one planner's own website, so your site is the main thing these tools read.
The directories were different from the US. Hitched was cited in 5 of the 16 UK answers (one of those as a source label without a link), Three Best Rated in 3 and The Wedding Edition in 2. In our US answers, The Knot, WeddingWire and PartySlate were the directories that came up most. One Edinburgh answer from Gemini was built straight from Google Maps results, which is another reason to set up your Google Business Profile.
What's different about SEO for UK wedding planners?
These are our judgments based on the data above, not measured results:
- Name the regions couples search. UK couples often search by county or area, such as "wedding planner Cotswolds" or "Somerset wedding planner", not just by city. Give each region you genuinely cover a page or a clear section, with real weddings you've planned there.
- Use UK wording. Say "on-the-day coordination" if that's what your couples call it, and use UK spelling. Write the way your couples search.
- Be on Hitched, and keep it current. It was the directory AI assistants cited most often for UK planners in our test. Make sure your profile matches your website: same name, area, services and starting price.
- Treat Scotland separately. In Edinburgh, a Scottish directory, Tie the Knot Scotland, was cited, and couples there may search Scottish place names rather than UK-wide terms.
- Destination planners need country pages. If you plan weddings in Italy or France for UK couples, a page per destination gives Google and AI tools something specific to match.
UK wedding planner SEO checklist
- Test your homepage speed at pagespeed.web.dev on the mobile tab, and shrink your hero image until it loads in under 4 seconds.
- Write one clear H1 and first sentence that say what you do and where, such as "Wedding planner in Bath and the Cotswolds".
- Add an inquiry form or a clear inquiry button to the homepage. Only 9 of 21 UK homepages we checked had a form on the page.
- Show a starting price or typical budget on a services or pricing page.
- Set up your Google Business Profile and link to it from your website. Our 60-minute setup covers Google's rules.
- Update your Hitched profile so it matches your website.
- Publish one page or post per region and real wedding, naming the venue and the area.

How did we collect this data?
- Website audit: 30 UK wedding planner websites, part of a 100-site US and UK sample found through Google searches. 21 were live and checkable on October 9, 2026; 5 couldn't be reached by PageSpeed Insights, 3 looked like placeholder or blocked pages and 1 showed a hosting default page.
- Tests: one Google PageSpeed Insights mobile run per homepage, plus a check of the homepage for meta description, H1 tags, structured data, inquiry form, pricing link, blog link and Google Maps link.
- AI test: 16 signed-out answers (ChatGPT and Gemini, two couple-style prompts each) for London, Edinburgh, Bath and Bristol on October 15, 2026. Perplexity required a login and wasn't tested.
- Limits: small samples, homepages only, one test each. We didn't measure Google rankings. Individual sites are not named, except planners the AI answers themselves named.
